Cumberland Council elects new Deputy Mayor

Clr Glenn Elmore has been elected as Cumberland Council’s Deputy Mayor following an Extraordinary Council meeting on Wednesday 26 September.

Clr Elmore will serve as Deputy Mayor for a term of one year following the completion of Clr Eddy Sarkis’ term.

Deputy Mayor Elmore said he was honoured to be elected Cumberland’s Deputy Mayor and was thankful to his fellow Councillor’s and the community for their support.

“I am passionate about Cumberland, a place where both my Grandparents lived, where my mother and father grew up, and where I have lived my whole life,” Deputy Mayor Elmore said.

“Cumberland is my home and I look forward to working with my fellow committed Councillors and the extraordinary staff to providing the local infrastructure and services our great community deserve.

Mayor Greg Cummings has welcomed Clr Elmore into the role of Deputy Mayor and looks forward to working with him to continue serving the people of Cumberland.

“Cumberland is a growing and thriving region. We have achieved a lot in the past few years and I look forward to what we will achieve moving forward with Deputy Mayor Elmore and our Councillors,” Mayor Cummings said.

“We will work hard to continue to make Cumberland a place where everyone feels welcome, can belong and be empowered to succeed. I also thank Clr Eddy Sarkis for his dedication as Deputy Mayor over the past 12 months.
