Merrylands Library is hosting an author talk on Wednesday 5 December with S.M. Matthews about his latest publication "The Skinny Girl" a thought-provoking story about a victim of emotional domestic violence.

Mayor Greg Cummings said residents will be able to hear direct from the author some of the real and harrowing stories he learned and the journeys from tragedy and abuse through to change and empowerment.

“Our libraries are a hub for community learning and it’s great to see authors coming to share their stories here in Cumberland. This book addresses an issue that sadly affects so many Australians. Emotional domestic violence can often be hidden and silent but by talking about the issue and raising awareness in our community we can feel empowered to take action and make a change,” Mayor Cummings said.

“The talk is free and residents can book their spot online. Books will be available for purchase on the night and all proceeds will be donated to the Homicide Victims Support Group and other organisations that support people affected by domestic and family violence. I encourage everyone to attend.”
