New outdoor fitness equipment installed at Tom Uren Park, Guildford West, has been officially launched at an event held on Monday 12 March 2018 by Cumberland Council and members of the community.

The new equipment is located to the north of the existing playground and adjacent to the corner of Karani Avenue and Iris Street, Guildford West.

A rubber softfall surround has been installed with the new equipment for increased levels of user comfort.

The local residential community in the Woodpark and Guildford West areas were instrumental in identifying the initial need and the potential benefits to the community.

“Cumberland Council continually engages with the community to identify emerging needs,” Mayor Greg Cummings said.

A collaborative approach funded the project with costs shared equally between Cumberland Council and a NSW Community Building Partnership program grant sourced by the State Member for Fairfield, Guy Zangari.

“This new fitness equipment is likely to generate an increase in park use by both local residents and industrial area workers employed in local businesses.”

The Tom Uren Park fitness equipment space is another Cumberland venue offering readily accessible facilities so important to help people maintain good health and wellbeing.

Launch attendees were invited to participate in a 30-minute workout on the day.
