Cumberland City Council is encouraging residents to participate in a full program of activities on offer to celebrate Christmas this year.

“2020 has been a big year and we should acknowledge how far we have come as a community with some well-earned Christmas cheer,” said Mayor Steve Christou.

“Cumberland City Council will celebrate a COVID-safe ‘Christmas in the Gardens’ at the Auburn Botanic Gardens on Saturday, 12 December 2020 (6pm-9pm) and I invite residents of Cumberland City to come along to the festivities or join our live-stream.

“We have a fantastic line-up that includes Carols, an outdoor cinema showing a Trolls movie, meet and greet with Troll characters, letters to Santa, take home colouring activity packs, food and Christmas lights.

“Council is also hosting a range of activities at the libraries including ’12 Days of Christmas Bedtime Stories’, an online Christmas Photo Challenge and a take home crafts event.

“Our ‘Shop Local this holiday season’ social media competition gives shoppers the chance to win up to three $100 Stockland Mall vouchers when you shop at local business featured on the Council website.”

Council operating hours remain the same until 12pm on Thursday 24 December and will resume Monday 4 January 2021. Waste services and park opening hours will be unaffected by the public holidays.

“Join us in the fun Christmas activities on offer and help us spread the cheer this holiday season”.
