Award categories
The awards are separated into five categories:
- Local Citizen of the Year
For those aged 26 to 64 years who live, work, volunteer or belong to a community group in the Cumberland Local Government Area. - Local Young Citizen of the Year
For those up to 25 years of age who live, work, study or belong to a school/ community group/workplace in the Cumberland Local Government Area. - Local Senior Citizen of the Year
For those aged 65 years or more who live, work, volunteer or belong to a community group in the Cumberland Local Government Area. - Community Pride Award for Individuals
For individuals who have made a positive impact towards the Cumberland community and contribute with pride. - Community Pride Award for Schools, Groups or Organisations
For a collective group of people who have made a positive impact towards the Cumberland community and contribute with pride.
Terms and conditions
Eligibility
- Nominees must live, work, study, play sport or volunteer in the Cumberland Local Government Area
- Nominees may be paid or unpaid workers
- Nominees may not nominate themselves, and must not be nominated by a relative
- Council staff and Councillors cannot be nominated for these awards

Criteria
Local Citizen of the Year (26 to 64 years)
For those aged 26 years or over who live, work, volunteer or belong to a community group in the Cumberland Local Government Area.
- Demonstrates excellence in their chosen field
- Contributes to the Cumberland community
- Is an inspirational role model to the Cumberland community
Local Young Citizen of the Year (up to 25 years)
For those up to 25 years of age who live, work, study or belong to a community group in the Cumberland Local Government Area.
- Demonstrates excellence in their chosen field
- Contributes to the Cumberland community
- Is an inspirational role model to the Cumberland community
Local Senior Citizen of the Year (65+ years)
For those 65 years and over who live, work or belong to a community group in the Cumberland Local Government Area.
- Demonstrates excellence in their chosen field
- Contributes to the Cumberland community
- Is an inspirational role model to the Cumberland community
Community Pride Award (Individual)
This award is for an individual that takes pride in their community. This can be in the form of environmental, sustainability, community work, or caring for people or local neighbourhoods.

- What makes the nominee deserving of the Community Pride Award (individual)?
Community Pride Award (Group, School or Organisation)
This award is for a group, school or organisation that makes a difference within their community. This can be in the form of environmental, sustainability, or community work that enhances local neighbourhoods or improves the lives of local residents.

- How does their project enhance the look or feel of the Cumberland community?
- What positive outcomes have been achieved through their project?
- Why are they deserving of the Community Pride Award (Group. School or Organisation)?
