Cumberland Council is hosting its first ever Family Fun Day, in partnership with Cricket NSW and Bowls Australia, on Sunday 19 May 2019. The entire community is encouraged to take part in the activities, which will be completely free of charge.

Held during National Families Week 2019, this event provides families the opportunity to get outside and enjoy healthy activities together.

Activities will cater to different levels of fitness, mobility and skill, so absolutely everyone can join in. Free shuttle buses will be running from Auburn train station, and from Merrylands train station, to Civic Park all day.

The morning will kick into with family games run by the team at GeckoSports, who specialise in fun and interactive fitness for kids.

At midday, Josh from the My Kitchen Rules 2018 series will be doing a healthy cooking demonstration.

And in the afternoon there will be sports clinics, where you can receive special instruction and assessment from experts in bowls and cricket. We thank Cricket NSW and Bowls Australia for sponsoring the 2019 Family Fun Day by kindly donating their time.

Council will be giving away free tote bags, and providing free fruit and water to everyone taking part in the day.

This is a fantastic opportunity for the families of Cumberland to get active together. Council encourages everyone in the community to take advantage of the free activities and shuttle buses.

Cumberland Mayor Greg Cummings said the event was inspired by the theme of this year’s National Families Week, ‘Stronger Families, Stronger Communities’.

“Families are an essential building block of Cumberland. Wellbeing within families enhances the wider wellbeing of the community, and we designed this event with that in mind,” Clr Cummings said.
