A new COVID-19 walk-through testing clinic is up and running at Auburn Central Town Square, after NSW Chief Health Officer Kerry Chant announced the venue as an area of concern yesterday [30 June].
Mayor Steve Christou said council worked quickly with NSW Health following the statement so a pop up clinic could be set up on council property by 2pm [30 June].
“Our community’s safety is our top priority and we’ll offer whatever support we can to state and federal authorities to help facilitate testing and communication of important health messages,” Mayor Steve Christou said.
“Auburn Central is one of our most vibrant town centres and it is unfortunate that it has been identified as an area of concern. I was at the testing clinic today [30 June] and I thank everyone who came out to get tested and even queued up in the rain to get tested. With that kind of commitment, we’re sure to get on top of this quickly.
“We have a multi-lingual community so having interpreters at testing sites is great to see. There’s also a lot of resources available in many languages, which will ensure vital information can reach all residents, regardless of their background.”
The pop up testing clinic at Auburn Central will operate from 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week, until further notice.
Testing is free and no booking or GP referral is required.
Arabic, Dari, and Chinese interpreters are on site at this clinic.
