Our Cumberland Picnic is a relaxed day out for the community, commemorating 125 years since Australia's Federation with live music by local artists, a barbecue, hands-on creative workshops and fun in the park.
Whether you’re new to the area or a lifelong local, Our Cumberland Picnic is a chance to connect, reflect, and celebrate what makes our community special.
Remember to bring your picnic mat and your hat!
The day begins with a Welcome to Country at 10am.
Live music
Heartdancers is bringing rhythm and joy to the park throughout the day, with live music and interactive workshops!
- 10:30am – Rhythm is Life with Deepa Kartik and Mithali Risha Singh
- 11:30am – Avazan Ensemble (Voices of Women)
- 12:30pm – Interactive Drumming Circle with Lucky Lartey
- 1:15pm – Ganathipan and Ensemble - A Journey Through Global Sound
Free barbecue and picnic zone
- Bring your own snacks and picnic mat.
- Enjoy a free barbeque with halal sausages and falafel – only available for the first 300 attendees.
- Play outside with old-fashioned lawn games.
Creative activities for all ages
- Imagine, design and build a cardboard Cumberland with Aksara Harriram’s Floating Suburb Project.
- Create your own collage postcard with photos of old and new Cumberland, curated by Sydney Collage Society.
- Learn to craft Federation Star flowers using paper with Fleurs Excentriques.
