Cumberland Council’s $190,000 upgrade of Coleman Park in Berala will be launched onsite at 2pm on Monday 23 April 2018.

Funded through Council’s Parks and Recreation Capital Works Renewal Program, the upgraded park facility delivers brand new playground equipment, some workout equipment, and a new half-basketball court that offers fitness and play options.

“Outdoor exercise is an important part of maintaining physical and mental health and general wellbeing,” Mayor Greg Cummings said.

“New play equipment provides always popular spinning, swinging and climbing options for younger children with more challenging activities for older children.

“Static workout equipment has been installed for the use of local residents wanting to fit a workout into busy schedules.

“Investing in outdoor venues such as Coleman Park is investing in the health and wellbeing of the Cumberland community.

“The park environment has been further enhanced for park patrons with the addition of new seating and shade trees.”

This particular project is one of 11 playground renewals being delivered by Council.

Council is working in partnership with the community to put its vision outlined in Cumberland’s Community Strategic Plan into action.

This plan will ensure the local environment, programs and services support the changing needs of Cumberland’s community now and into the future.
