The Auburn Centre for Community and Berala Community Centre are rolling out the welcome mat these school holidays, with two family friendly but distinctly different Open Days.

Auburn Centre for Community will kick things off with a garden party on Friday 5 October, 11am – 3pm. Residents can explore the Friendship Garden, go on a Scavenger Hunt, enjoy free food outdoors and get grubby with worm farming and composting workshops.

Berala Community Centre will follow up with a colourful social gathering on Thursday 11 October, 11am – 3pm.  Residents can enjoy local and multicultural performances, circus workshops, art and craft, sport, games and much more.

Mayor Greg Cummings invited residents looking for free, family friendly activities these school holidays to take advantage of the two Open Days.

“School holidays can feel a lot like work for parents. There are itineraries to plan, budgets to balance and work and family obligations to keep,” Mayor Cummings said.

“The Community Centre Open Days are a great way to get outside, meet new people and have fun these school holidays.

“Importantly the days are free so residents can have a great time on us and not worry about their hip pocket.

“Cumberland is home to some of the most dynamic and diverse suburbs in Sydney. At their heart are community centres like the ones in Auburn and Berala.

“Community Centres really are ‘one stop shops’ linking people to essential services, and providing hubs for them to meet, learn, network and socialise.”
