As part of the 2018-19 Operational Plan, Cumberland Council will be investing more than $76.4 million into the community to build and renew essential infrastructure including local roads, footpaths, cycleways, bridges, and parks as part of the capital works program.

More specifically Council will spend:

  • $5.3 million for  footpaths, pedestrian paths, and cycleways;
  • $23.5 million for roads, traffic and stormwater upgrades;
  • $14 million for community facilities, and libraries; and
  • $9.8 million for parks and creational renewals and upgrades.

Mayor Greg Cummings said Council is committed to delivering quality services and programs that will provide positive outcomes for residents.

“Our capital works program ensures that we are maintaining our infrastructure to the highest standards. Council is dedicated to delivering the vision of the Cumberland community and increasing the community pride in our public areas,” Mayor Cummings said.

“As the first budget delivered by sitting Councillors, this document shows that we are listening to the needs of our community and prioritising what is important to Cumberland residents.

“We want our residents to be proud of where they live. Our Council facilities are a hub of community spirt in Cumberland, a place where people can come together to meet, learn, play sports, and be active.

“Through our capital works program money will be spent to renew and upgrade critical infrastructure including cycleways, libraries and footpaths that will allow residents to be out and about enjoying everything Cumberland has on offer.”

As the public exhibition period has now ended, community and stakeholder feedback is currently being considered. A report will be presented to a Council Meeting shortly presenting the final Delivery Program and Operational Plan 2017-21 including the 2018-19 Budget and Fees and Charges.
