7 July 2016 – Media Release
The first meeting of the Cumberland Council Local Representative Committee was held on 5 July at the Merrylands office of Council. The Committee was established to provide insight on a range of local
issues facing the new Council. In attendance were former Holroyd City and Parramatta City Councillors (former Auburn City Councillors will be appointed at the conclusion of the Public Inquiry) and community representatives.
“It was very encouraging to see such a robust and productive exchange of ideas at Cumberland Council’s first ever Local Representative Committee Meeting. I particularly appreciate the local knowledge that was imparted by former Councillors and Community Committee members,” Cumberland Council Administrator, Viv May said.
“Committee members had constructive conversations with Council staff as they worked through a range of presentations on the new Council structure, events, the Community Strategic Plan, IT,visual identity of the new Council, the Stronger Community Fund and other issues.
“I look forward to working with the Committee over the coming months as we build our new Council and provide the residents of the Cumberland with a fresh start,” Mr May.
