Cumberland Libraries are hosting a jam-packed program for all ages, from guest author presentations with Judy Friedlander and Christopher Cheng, to costume parades, story times, and a Book Week quiz, there are even prizes up for grabs!
Parents must remain on the premises while sessions are in progress.

Judy Friedlander - Author Presentation
Auburn Library on Monday 18 August from 4pm to 5pm
Judy’s book, The Bee Squad, has made it to the long list in the CBCA Book Week. Her book provides understand of native flora and fauna in our neighbourhood. The Bee Squad is a guide for children of all ages which encourages awareness of their environment and biodiversity. It contains projects to create a sustainable future for all creatures and how to become part of the Bee Squad and promote biodiversity in children. Participants will be awarded a biodiversity ambassador certificate with their attendance. Judy Friedlander is the Co-founder and director of PlantingSeeds Projects which fosters environmental sustainability and biodiversity in the urban, peri-urban and regional environments.

Book Week Storytime and Parade
Merrylands Library on Tuesday 19 August at 11am
Songs and stories to celebrate Book Week.
Pre-schoolers are invited to dress as their favourite character and join a parade around the library and Council Piazza.
Free, no bookings required.
Book Week Costume Parade
Wentworthville Library on Thursday 21 August from 3:45pm to 4:30pm
A storytime for children aged 5 to 12 years.
Wear your favourite character costume, speak a line in your character’s voice, vote for your favourite costume and listen to some stories.
With great prizes, fun and lollipops.

Christopher Cheng - Author Presentation
Merrylands Library on Friday 22 August from 4pm to 5pm -
Suitable for School aged children aged 10+
Award winning author Christopher Cheng has worked this year with Cumberland City Libraries to spark and encourage creative writing in school aged children. Children’s book author Christopher Cheng was our guest mentor for the Cumberland Young Writers Awards Competition, and he has joined us to celebrate Book Week by providing a creative writing workshop for children 11 to 16. Do not miss this opportunity to by guided by Christopher Cheng to expand your creativity to create amazing stories.
