What makes a great town centre? Tell us to win a $100 voucher

Cumberland Council is inviting residents to tell us what makes a great town centre via an online survey for the chance to win one of five $100 vouchers.

Council’s “Care Factor Town Centre” survey can be completed in five minutes, with feedback informing Council’s new Culture and Activation Strategy. The strategy aims to provide Council with a roadmap for the development and use of its town centres into the future.

Mayor Greg Cummings said Council is passionate about bringing Cumberland’s public spaces to life, making them vibrant and accessible to residents, workers, and visitors.

“We want our town centres to be thriving hubs of activity and culture that everyone can enjoy, which is why it is important for the community to share their views and complete the survey,” Mayor Cummings said.

“The survey asks participants to identify the qualities that make local town centres more enjoyable places to visit and spend time in. This could be walkability, night time activities, cleanliness, open spaces, having a range of businesses and shops, being able to interact with neighbours, or something else personal to you. Whatever it is, we want to know.

“Understanding what our community members view as the priorities for their local outdoor and public spaces will help guide Council in planning for the future of local centres in a way that reflects the values and meets the needs of Cumberland’s people.

“Once developed, this strategy will inform Council’s designing of programs and services to the community in arts and culture, as well as town centre focused initiatives which could include public art, place activation and business engagement.

“As an added incentive, by spending five minutes to fill out the survey, participants can go into the draw to win one of five $100 vouchers. I encourage everyone to have their say and help shape the future of your community.”

The survey for the Culture and Activation Strategy is open until 13 May 2018 on https://haveyoursay.cumberland.nsw.gov.au/activate
