Civic Park in Pendle Hill is undergoing a major revamp, with construction of the Civic Park and Pendle Hill Wetland Improvement Project currently underway.
The project, valued at over $15 million, has been jointly funded by Cumberland Council and the Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants Program. It will include improvements to the Pendle Creek wetlands, a new nature playspace and outdoor fitness facilities, picnic areas, half-court basketball, carpark and upgrades to pathways and lighting.
Mayor Lisa Lake said the project would deliver an enhanced park and public space for the Pendle Hill community.
“This is a very exciting project that will allow for more recreation opportunities, improved amenities, upgrades to safety and accessibility with new pedestrian paths and links, lighting and CCTV cameras,” she said.
“Civic Park is one of the largest parks in the area and we know that children, families and communities in Pendle Hill utilise this park daily. These upgrades will tick all the boxes for these young families, senior citizens and sporting groups. They will be able to enjoy quality time in this open space park that will meet the growing needs of the community.”
Cumberland Council is one of 15 Local Government Areas in Western Sydney that was eligible for funding under the $2 billion Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants Program in the 2022 Local Government Allocation round.
Construction is expected to be completed in March 2024, weather permitting.
