29 August 2017 – Media Release

Cumberland is one of 46 council areas across NSW going to the polls on Saturday 9 September 2017, so residents and ratepayers can decide who will represent them for the next four years.

Cumberland is also one of 20 newly amalgamated councils to have their first election following the amalgamation of former Auburn and Holroyd Councils, and the Woodville Ward of the City of Parramatta, in May 2016.

With Election Day fast approaching, here’s what electors need to know.

On Election Day

Voting is compulsory for everyone enrolled in the Cumberland Council area.

Electors will be voting for three Councillors to represent them from each of Cumberland Council’s five wards:

  • Granville
  • Greystanes
  • Regents Park
  • South Granville
  • Wentworthville

Polling places will be open from 8am to 6pm.

Electors can find out what ward they are in and where they can vote at www.cumberland.nsw.gov.au. For more information on candidates, visit Vote NSW.

Early voting options

If you cannot vote on Election Day you can vote early at pre-poll venues. Pre-poll voting is available until 6:00pm Friday 8 September. Locations are available at www.cumberland.nsw.gov.au.

People who wish to apply for a postal vote should act now. Postal vote applications must be received by 5pm on Monday 4 September.
