Cumberland City Council in partnership with NSW Health will be opening a pop-up flu clinic at the Holroyd Centre in Merrylands to offer screening and vaccination for members of Cumberland's community who are experiencing or are at risk of homelessness.

“We are fast approaching the cold and flu season and we want to protect and look after those who are most vulnerable and at-risk,” said Mayor Steve Christou.

“The clinic will be open to residents who are homeless, including those who are sleeping rough, or at risk of homelessness.

“People experiencing homelessness, including those who are rough sleeping or couch surfing, those in temporary accommodation or overcrowded housing as well as those on temporary visas are just some of the vulnerable populations here in Cumberland facing a range of barriers to accessing basic healthcare services.

“This healthcare initiative aims to further extend Council’s support in a time when it is needed most by providing basic assistance with the flu vaccination to those who have been unable to seek this care due to their current circumstance.

“We're all in this together and Council is here supporting the community so we can come out the other side.”

All entrants will be screened upon arrival at the clinic to ensure people are well enough to be vaccinated.

The clinic will maintain safety and social distancing government regulations.

The NSW Health nurses are equipped with the necessary tools and training to protect themselves and those around them. Details of the clinics are as follows:

Clinic 1: Thursday 7 May, 9.30am - 12pm
Clinic 2: Tuesday 12 May, 9.30am - 12pm

The clinics will be held at the Holroyd Centre (11-17 Miller St, Merrylands).
