Golfers across Sydney are gearing up to tee off at the Cumberland Golf Pro-Am Tournament being held on 6 and 7 October.

Players of all ages and abilities will be able to show off their skills as they go toe to toe with top professionals on the circuit at Woodville Golf Course.

The event will be held over two days, the first day will be open to junior players from ages 12 to 16 years and the second day will see amateurs aged over 18 take over the greens.

Cumberland City Council Mayor Lisa Lake said the tournament is a great opportunity to showcase the outstanding golf courses and recent upgrades including the completion of the 7th hole at Woodville Golf Course.

“This is a great opportunity to raise the profile of Council-owned golf courses, particularly with the new 7th hole.” she said.

“The Woodville Golf Course is a premium playing space with Council laying down 10,000 m2 of new turf and significant path works at Woodville so players will be in for a grand experience.”

PGA representative and Tournament Coordinator, Peter Weldon said the tournament is a great experience for players of all levels.

“This is the first tournament we’ve been able to put on since COVID restrictions. It’ll be good to see a bit of normalcy return to such an important event for golf players.” he said.

“The tournament is a great opportunity for younger players to get a sense of what a professional PGA tournament looks and feels like. Having such passionate players coming together to improve in their skills can lead to them maybe one day becoming part of Australia’s top players.”

The Cumberland Golf Pro-Am Tournament will be held on 6 and 7 October at Woodville Golf Course.
