Cumberland City Council is investigating a pollution incident that has occurred at Duck Creek adjacent to the Auburn Botanic Gardens. The area of impacted creek is between Wellington Road and Edgar Street at Auburn.

Environmental Health Officers inspected the waterway yesterday and HAZMAT has responded. The EPA has also been notified as they have a number of licensed premises in the area.

The water has been tested and it was PH neutral. There was no odour or oils associated with the incident.

Council officers are yet to identify the source of the pollution, however, investigations are continuing.

Currently, there is no evidence that animals using the waterway have been adversely effected and we will continue to monitor the condition of the creek over the coming days.
