Cumberland Council is harmonising its Clean Up Services, enabling all residents to access up to four pre-booked collections per year from Monday 5 February 2018.

The move brings service provision in the former Holroyd area, where residents had access to two scheduled Clean Up Services every 12 months, into alignment with those in the former Auburn and Parramatta areas.

The size of the collections has also been increased from one cubic metre to two across Cumberland.

“These changes ensure equitable service provision across Cumberland, with all residents now able to pre-book up to four clean ups per year at a time convenient to them,” Mayor Greg Cummings said.

“The increased flexibility and frequency of the service, as well as the increased size of collection, will hopefully also see a reduction in illegal dumping across the area.

“Fines of up to $4,000 apply for illegal dumping. It really just isn’t worth the risk of being slapped with a massive fine when you’ve got access to four free services per year, so all residents are encouraged to take full advantage of the service.

“Bookings are essential for the Clean Up Service and it’s recommended you book at least two weeks in advance of your preferred pick up date.

“You can book anytime by simply visiting Cumberland.nsw.gov.au or calling 8757 9000. For multi lingual support, please contact the Translating and Interpreting Service on 131 450 and ask to be connected to Cumberland Council on (02) 8757 9000.

“Residents are advised to avoid putting waste out any sooner than the night before, to reduce the risk of people adding to it and exceeding the maximum collection size.

“Residents are also encouraged to consider extending the life of items they’re considering putting out on a clean up; donate to friends, family or a local charity. For more ideas, visit Council’s website or call The Bower Reuse and Repair Centre on 9568 6280.”
