The Civic Park and Pendle Hill Wetland Improvement Project is one step closer to opening with the project on track for completion in March 2024.
The park is undergoing a major revamp which will include a new nature play space, outdoor fitness facilities, picnic areas, half-court basketball court, carpark, upgrades to pathways and lighting and also improvements to the Pendle Creek Wetlands.
Cumberland Mayor Lisa Lake said she was pleased with the progress of this project that will deliver an improved recreational outdoor space for the community.
“This is a really exciting project for the Pendle Hill community. Civic Park is commonly used by children, families and locals who live nearby so residents are going to really enjoy spending quality time in this new park with improved amenities, play equipment and safety features,” said Mayor Lake.
Upgrades to Civic Park are nearing completion with crews installing play and fitness equipment, two new bridges, sandstone walls, brick walls and an Exeloo public toilet.
The works to the Pendle Creek wetlands are also on track with the gabion walls, island planting, trash rack and two gross pollutant traps completed.
The final stages of the project include the renewal of carparks off Civic Avenue and Parkland Avenue and landscaping works.
The project, valued at $16 million, has been jointly funded by Cumberland Council and the Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants Program.
