The Easter Bunny will be hopping, skipping and jumping all through Central Gardens Nature Reserve as part of Cumberland Council’s Easter Celebrations.

For the first time, the Gardens will be transformed into an Easter wonderland with the Easter Bunny making a special visit, an easter egg hunt, egg decorating workshops and a petting zoo.

There will also be games of futsal, an outdoor cinema screening of the Peter Rabbit movies, show bags, food vendors and arts and craft stalls.

Cumberland Mayor Lisa Lake said Easter is a special time for families to come together to celebrate. “Easter is a special time of year for many people in our community with over 30 percent of our population in Cumberland set to mark Easter traditions and celebrations,” she said.

“It’s a time for family, joy and renewal, with millions of people all over the world celebrating this historic occasion with their friends and families.”

Easter marks the end of the Lenten season, devoted prayer, fasting and penitence and is celebrated all over the world, honouring the Resurrection of Jesus Christ three days after his death.

Council’s Easter celebrations will be taking place on Saturday 1 April from 10am to 3pm at Central Gardens Nature Reserve in Merrylands.
