Opening at the Peacock Gallery in Auburn on 9 December 2017, Landscape will allow visitors to explore the physical, political, social and emotional landscapes that impact on the world and the imagination for free until 28 January 2018.

Mayor Greg Cummings invited members of the community and its surroundings to visit Landscape, which is the creation of Cumberland Artists Network; a Cumberland Council supported professional development network for artists of all experience levels.

“The annual Cumberland Artist Network exhibition provides the opportunity for artists to come together and develop an exhibition theme that the group can respond to as individuals. This year they give us Landscape,” Mayor Cummings said.

“The art and culture of Cumberland are diverse, complex and vibrant.

“Residents come from 124 countries and the artists in our community present a variety of art forms in our public spaces, for community celebrations and festivals, art workshops and for exhibitions at our art gallery in the Auburn Botanic Gardens, the Peacock Gallery and Auburn Arts Studio.

“The public artwork adds to the vibrancy of the area and highlights Cumberland as a truly unique local government area.

“Landscape will no doubt be enjoyed by art lovers from across Sydney, but the timing, location and cost of visiting Landscape is also opportune for local families, and those visiting from suburbs further afield, to make a day of it.

“The exhibition will run for the duration of the school holidays, the Peacock Gallery is located right next door to the magical Auburn Botanic Gardens and visitors can enjoy free admission to exhibitions.

"The Peacock Gallery is open from 11am-4pm, Tuesday to Sunday. Auburn Botanic Gardens is open from 9am-6pm, Monday to Friday. Please check the Cumberland Council website for information on closures over the Christmas and New Year period.
