As of 30 September 2016, Cumberland Council will take over responsibility for a number of Council services in the Woodville Ward, which is made up of the suburbs of Guildford, Granville and South Granville. This will include the maintenance of all major sporting parks and amenities and all major infrastructure assets such as roads, footpaths, stormwater and bridges.
Cumberland Council Administrator Viv May once again officially welcomed the new community to the Cumberland Council family.
“Cumberland Council is excited to officially take responsibility for these vital functions and we look forward to serving the people of the former Woodville Ward.
“It is important for everyone to know that this handover will not require residents to make any changes to their daily lives.”
“Cumberland Council is committed to building on the base left by the City of Parramatta Council by maintaining the current community assets and taking feedback from residents on areas that need to be evaluated” Mr May said.
There will be no changes to garbage pickup days; this area will still be managed by the City of Parramatta Council until 2017. Information about changes to garbage pickup will be provided to residents closer to the date of handover of those responsibilities.
Further announcements regarding the handover of community facilities such as Granville Youth and Recreation Centre, Town Hall and Libraries will be made in the near future.
