Bin collection days change in Granville, South Granville, Merrylands

Check to see if your collection day has changed
23 Nov 2017 - Archive

Bin collection days will be changing in Granville, South Granville and Merrylands from 11 December 2017.

Click on the interactive map to see if your bin collection day is changing - Type your address in the search box at the top left of the screen, or simply zoom in to find your street.

Please note: Only areas highlighted on the map are subject to bin collection day changes. If you live in Cumberland Council and your street is not highlighted on this map, your bin collection days remain the same.

The map highlights the day your bins will now be collected so you will need to put them out for collection the night before.

For example, if your street is in the Monday zone of the map this means that your garbage, recycling and green waste bins will now be collected on a Monday and your bins will need to be placed out on Sunday night for collection. Garbage bins are still collected weekly, and recycling/green waste bins are still collected fortnightly on your new day.

Click here to confirm which week your recycling and green waste bins are collected.

Recycling bins should be placed out for collection on the weeks highlighted yellow (on your new collection day) and green waste bins will be serviced on the weeks highlighted green.

Please note: These calendars relate specifically to the areas of Cumberland Council affected by bin collection changes taking effect on 11 December 2017. If your bin collection day has not changed, continue putting your bins out as per your current schedule.

Bins will still continue to be serviced as per normal on public holidays.

24 November 2017 - Media Release

To ensure residents don’t miss their collection service, General Manager Malcolm Ryan said Cumberland Council will be communicating with them regularly in the lead up to the change.

“Right now, residents can identify their new pick up day on an interactive map, available at www.cumberland.nsw.gov.au,” Mr Ryan said.

“A letter will shortly be delivered to every household in the affected areas.

“And to be sure everyone knows their new collection day, we’ll also be placing a sticker on their bin notifying them of the change a week before it comes into place.

“We recognise that putting your bin out on a Thursday night has probably become a habit and it may take some time to adjust.

“To ensure a smooth transition, we’ll have extra customer service support on hand over the Christmas and New Year period.

“This means that you can double check your new collection day for peace of mind and, should you miss the new collection day, we will collect your bin within the following 48 hours.

“This change in collection dates comes after 6 November 2017, when waste management of the former Woodville Ward of the City of Parramatta transitioned to the new Cumberland Council.

“Incorporation of the Woodville Ward went smoothly, with all waste on all main roads collected before 6am.

“However, there are more than 13, 691 dwellings within the suburbs of Granville, South Granville and Merrylands, and we recognise that spreading collection services across the week will ensure improved levels of service for residents and ratepayers.

“Most importantly, if you have any issues with your new service, simply pick up the phone and call 8757 9000. We have dedicated staff prepared to answer your calls regarding the new waste service.

“For multi lingual support, please contact the Translating and Interpreting Service on 131 450 and ask to be connected to Cumberland Council, (02) 8757 9000.”
