13 December 2016 – Media Release

All property and rates information for the former Woodville Ward, which includes the suburbs of Granville, South Granville and Guildford, has now been transferred to Cumberland Council. All property and rates related matters will now be handled by Cumberland Council.

This includes:

• Change of name and address
• Pension Concession Rates Applications
• Change of ownership
• Sub divisions, consolidation and the creation of new properties etc.
• Certificates
• Rates payments (Note: new billing number and assessment numbers will apply).

Please see the Frequently Asked Questions below for more information.

What if have not paid my last rates notice?
If you have not paid your last rates notice (due on 30 November 2016), these now need to be paid to Cumberland. Please wait until you receive a new notice with Cumberland Council’s bank details with new billing code and your new assessment number before making payment. Please also cancel any scheduled payments to Parramatta. (Cumberland Council will start processing these rates payments from 19 December 2016).

Do I need to change my direct debit details?
Previous arrangements and direct debits will be maintained for the time being. Where a direct debit is in place you will see on your bank statement the change in name from Parramatta Council to Cumberland Council. (Cumberland Council will send Direct Debit Authorisation forms to relevant property owners as soon as possible and obtain their authority before accessing any bank accounts.)

When will the next rates instalment go out?
The quarter 3 rates instalment will be issued by Cumberland Council in early January 2017. Please be mindful of the new payment details when you pay your notice. Your new rates notice will have Cumberland Council’s bank details with new billing code and your new assessment number. Please also cancel any scheduled payments to Parramatta.

What rates am I going to be charged?
There is no change to rates during the current financial year (1 July 2016 to 30 June 2017). From next financial year the rates will follow the same “Rating Structure” as City of Parramatta and will change by any applicable rate pegging amount.

Does this mean my Domestic Waste service/Bin pickup will change?
Your bin pickup will not change. Parramatta City Council will continue to provide the waste services. If you require a change in your waste services you must ring Parramatta Council.

Will I still receive a pensioner rebate?
Pensioner Rebates, if applicable, will continue as usual as per the City of Parramatta Pension Policy until further Notice. New pension rebate applications need to be made to Cumberland Council. (Cumberland Council will send a Consent Letter to relevant pensioners in the near future.) Pensioners with CentrePay arrangements will be contacted to discuss new arrangements.
