Safely eliminate unwanted chemicals in the household when Cumberland Council, in partnership with the NSW Environment Protection Authority, hosts a free Household Chemical CleanOut.

Mayor Greg Cummings is inviting residents to drop off unwanted materials from 9am to 3.30pm on Sunday 2 December at Auburn Baseball Club car park on Euston Road, Auburn.

“We know the cleanliness of the streets is important for residents in Cumberland. It’s also really important to Council,” Mayor Cumming said.

“This is just one of the many services Council offers to the community in support of a cleaner Cumberland.”

Residents may drop off household quantities (up to a maximum of 20 litres or kilograms of a single item) of the following items:

  • Solvents and household cleaners
  • Floor care products
  • Ammonia-based cleaners
  • Pesticides and herbicides
  • Poisons
  • Pool chemicals
  • Hobby chemicals
  • Motor fuels
  • Fluorescent globes and tubes
  • Acids and alkalis
  • Smoke detectors
  • Paint and paint-related products
  • Gas bottles
  • Fire extinguishers
  • Car and household batteries
  • Motor oils and cooking oils

Never mix chemicals, label them clearly and keep them safe during transportation.

“For other household waste, all residents have to access up to four pre-booked collections per year. You can book a clean-up simply by visiting cumberland.nsw.gov.au or calling 8757 9000,” Mayor Cummings continued.

“We recommend you book at least two weeks in advance of your preferred pick up date and avoid putting waste out any sooner than the night before collection, to reduce the risk of people adding to it and exceeding the maximum collection size.”

Illegal dumping can be reported to Council by calling 8757 9000.
