7 October 2016 – Media Release

At the Cumberland Council Meeting of 5 October 2016 it was announced that $843,250 in dividends would be reinvested into local community infrastructure. The funds were received from an investment made by the former Auburn Council in 2006 and Cumberland Council Administrator Viv May assured that the funds will be reinvested only into the former Auburn Council area.

“It’s a pay day for Auburn kids! The funds will go towards upgrading 11 playgrounds and parks across the former Auburn Council area and adding new equipment to make them safer and more fun for the locals. A number of footpaths across Auburn will also be upgraded with the money” said Cumberland Council Administrator Viv May.

“I think it is only fair that funds that were sourced using the money of ratepayers in the former Auburn area should be reinvested straight back into that area, so the local community receives the benefits of their investment”
