1000 Books Before Kindergarten Program

Council has launched a new early literacy reading program called ‘1000 Books Before Kindergarten’ at Granville Library. This program encourages children to read 1000 books before they start school, to help develop early literacy skills and a love for reading from a young age. Any book read can contribute to the program including those found at home, borrowed from the library, and even from story time, playgroups or childcare. Parents can register online or at any library in Cumberland. This free program is open to infants and children aged up to five years and each registered participant will receive a free starter park, which includes a reading log to track their progress. To register or for more information, visit  www.cumberland.nsw.gov.au/1000-books-kindergarten
